Opera Cultura's ¡Chicanísima! is coming to NBC Bay Area. Emmy Award-winning journalist Damian Trujillo — host and producer of Comunidad del Valle, the longest-running public affairs program in the Bay Area — sat down with composer Carla Lucero and Chicana activist Olga Talamante to discuss the opera, the story behind it, and what it means to bring this moment to the stage.
Comunidad del Valle airs on at 9:30am on NBC Bay Area and in Spanish on Telemundo 48 at 8am — reaching two of the Bay Area's most engaged communities simultaneously.
¡Chicanísima! performs Saturday, June 27 at MACLA, 510 S 1st St, San José — two performances at 12:00 PM and 5:30 PM. Tickets are choose-your-price, starting at $10.
