About the event
Opera Cultura presents a staged concert of Carla Lucero's opera Chicanísima, in association with Quinteto Latino. First commissioned by Quinteto Latino, the opera is rooted in Chicana experience and expression. It offers a compelling and intimate operatic voice that is both personal and resonant.
The program also includes selected arias by Latina composers and librettists, highlighting the breadth and diversity of contemporary Latina opera. Together, these works celebrate storytelling, identity, and artistic innovation within today’s operatic landscape.
Presented at Movimiento de Arte y Cultura Latino Americana (MACLA), this one-hour event offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience new opera in a dynamic and accessible format. Featured singers are featured singers Soprano Alexa Sessler, Mezzo Soprano Jessica Gonzalez - Roddriguez and Tenor Sergio Gonzalez
