Introducing New Staff and Board Members
September 27, 2016We are happy to introduce two new members of our staff, Carmelo Rosado as Artistic Administrator and Maria Caycedo as Associate Producer. Both are foremost artists with extensive background in administration and project management that they want to lend toward the expansion of Opera Cultura.
Carmelo has worked in technical support for over 15 years. He co-founded Bay Area Opera Collaborative, where he also acted as performer, producer and assistant director. Companies he has performed with include Opera Cultura, Lyric Theater and West Valley Light. His favorite roles are Pinkerton(Madame Butterfly), Antonio (La Llorona), and Canio (Paggliaci).
Maria has administrative, project management, and marketing experience in publishing, healthcare, education and music. She has performed with Opera Cultura, Verismo Opera, Phenix Opera and Opera Birmingham. Her favorite roles are Musetta (La Boheme), Lucy (The Telephone), and Sara (La Llorona).
We also welcome two new board members.
Kathryn Blackmer Reyes is the librarian and Director of the Cultural Heritage Center at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library at San Jose State University. Within the CHC, she curates the book collections that focus on the U.S. Race/Ethnic experiences and organizes cultural programming and exhibits.
Elizabeth Hernandez, JD, brings more than 30 years of business leadership experience, including substantial experience in both the nonprofit and for profit sectors. She has served as the Director of Finance at Hispanics in Philanthropy (HIP). Prior to HIP, she as served in finance and accounting leadership roles at Avid Technology, Inc., Charles Schwab and DHL Airways.
