The Opera Cultura Volunteer Guild

We are seeking volunteers to be a part of our new Opera Guild. The Guild will be an essential part of strengthening and expanding our commitment to our mission – exploring the Latino-Hispanic cultural experience through music theater and opera, while providing opportunities for the community to participate is creators, learners, and performers. Members will be able to participate in a variety of volunteer opportunities at performances and other events, helping both on and off stage. Members will also be invited to attend special events with our very talented artists and Artistic Director Héctor Armienta. Join the Guild today and become part of our Opera Cultura family!

CUENTOS DE PEREGRINACIÓn/Tales of Pilgrimage –

Cuentos
 

This song cycle opera retells the heart wrenching and inspirational stories of Mexican Immigrants who have made the arduous journey from Mexico to the US. As described by Hector Armienta, "This work is intended for the community and those that want to celebrate the contributions of all immigrants - including those within our own family.” It was produced in 2014, and we are providing this online broadcast to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month.

NEW VOICES Canto Concert – October 6, 2018

Trianon Theater

 
The inaugural Canto Concert NEW VOICES is a recital showcasing the winners from the Canto Online Vocal Competition and other emerging artists. Singers will perform new compositions by contemporary composers as well as traditional repertoire, with a focus on the Latin-American cultural experience.

2ND ANNUAL CANTO ONLINE VOCAL COMPETITION
February 2019

2nd Annual Canto Online Vocal Competition

The goal of the competition is to showcase emerging artists who are at the beginning of their career and/or who are currently enrolled at institutions of higher education. It is also for those who are interested in Spanish language repertoire; however, this is not a requirement to participate in the competition. A brief video of an aria excerpt is required to enter.
